I read about farm stays on an article on Yahoo.com. After reading it I researched a couple places and Willow-Witt Ranch quickly shot to the top choice for several reason; price, amenities, reviews, location and convenience. We brought 3 children, ages 2, 4 and 5 and all of them stayed free (under 8 is free)! Everybody was extremely friendly, not only the owners but also all of the farmhands/employees whom went out of their way to educate all of us, and especially the kids, about milking goats, picking chicken eggs, caring for animals and the veggies.
Everybody made sure to make us feel like it was our house. We stayed in the guest farmhouse attached to the main farmhouse and it was very cozy and comfortable. The beds were cloud-like, there was fresh goats milk and chicken eggs in the fridge for us, all the cooking supplies we needed were there and if they weren’t then the owners were happy to let us borrow theirs. We got to roast marshmallow from a barbecue because fires were prohibited due to weather, we could interact with the animals whenever we wanted. The scenery is beautiful, surrounded by meadows, mountains, trees, a pond within walking distance, 4 or 5 dogs roaming free that were either extremely playful or friendly when approached (except one but he is old and leaves everybody alone).
I would definitely go back! I love how eco-friendly and sustainable they are. The electricity comes from the sun, everything is composted or recycled, it seemed like everything was organic, even the supplies that were waiting for us in the farmhouse.
I got a lot of negative responses from friends and family when I mentioned we were going to stay on a farm but I am so glad I followed through. It was educational yet relaxing and safe, didn’t have to worry about the kids and I would do it again for sure. I recommend this type of trip, or more specifically, this ranch to anybody looking for a different type of vacation and doesn’t want to spend a ton of money.
