What a gem! We just returned from three nights at Willow Witt Ranch and feel like we have been let in on a well-kept secret. AND for the first time we can remember, have returned from a vacation feeling rested and refreshed. This stunning working goat ranch set in the mountains above Ashland is a perfect mix of luxury and down to earth farming. We stayed in the Farmhouse Studio and actually extended our trip a night as we were enjoying it so much. Without cell service (though we could text fine) and with intermittent WiFi, we spent our time reading, hiking, playing with baby goats, picking carrots, cooking fresh eggs and sausage, gazing at the scenery, and sleeping in the most comfortable bed while bathed in cool fresh mountain air. Suzanne, Lanita, and the farm staff were all so gracious with their time and knowledge and we got to see and learn so much. We were so interested and impressed with all of the ways they have worked to restore the land to its original state and how they ranch and farm in ways that, while more time and labor intensive, sustain and respect the land. We were not sure how we would occupy our time on a vacation where we didn’t have lots of activities to stimulate and entertain our always busy selves. Instead, we found ourselves unexpectedly connecting to the animals, the land, and the feeling of what it truly means to relax, in a way no massage or spa could do. It was so amazing and we can’t wait to go back!
We were able to go through the Meadow House, and it is as beautiful as the Farmhouse Studio. No detail was spared or corner cut in either accommodation. From the handmade soaps to the high end appliances and plush towels and bedding, both are divine. They are also so incredibly clean! Wish my house was like that! We also toured the wall tents and the outdoor kitchen, bathhouse, and outdoor shower. The kitchen is like nothing we have ever seen, and the whole set up is classy and convenient.
I don’t how Lanita and Suzanne have created such a healthy, beautiful, calm environment less than thirty minutes outside of Ashland, but they have. We were honored to be a part of it for a few days, and will be back!
